Morris Rubell
 Holocaust Remembrance Journeys

Born into a loving family of five children in Barycz, Poland, Morris' world was ripped apart by the Nazi occupation of his country in September 1939.  He was nine years old at the outbreak of the war and living at home with his family.

During the Nazi occupation of Poland and the takeover of Jewish homes, the Nazis brutally tortured and killed his father.  Jewish families were rounded up and taken to the ghetto of Krosno.

A child of eleven, Morris was separated from his mother and sisters.  Alone, he endured the horrors of the Plaszow, Mathausen, Melk and Ebensee concentration camps until liberation in 1945 at the age of fifteen.

As the years passed, Morris became more and more committed to instilling awareness of the Holocaust in American youth. He was dedicated to sharing his experience with young people by speaking to youth groups, at schools and community events.
